Mogwai is one of those bands that I don’t always think about listening to at home, but that I absolutely love to watch them live. I think this is where they shine the most and yesterday’s performance was no exception.
The set was a great career spanning sample, opening with «Yes! I Am a Long Way From Home» into «Hi Chaos». «New Paths to Helicon» and «Ritchie Sacramento» provided some of the more melodic moments, while «Mogwai Fear Satan» and «Remurdered» showed why the band are so effective live. Then they closed the set with the classic «We’re No Here» and «Lion Rumpus».
The show drew a huge crowd at first, although, you could tell that many had probably never listened to Mogwai before as they left early to get a good spot for Amyl and the Sniffers. But for those who stayed, Mogwai delivered a powerful and immersive performance. 5/6
