Baker McKenzie has advised S-Bahn Berlin, Stadler Rail and Siemens Mobility on the legal aspects of transforming their consortium for the future of Berlin’s S-Bahn into a joint venture.

The consortium comprising S-Bahn Berlin, Stadler Rail and Siemens Mobility recently won the tender process for the Berlin S-Bahn. The award became legally binding in July 2026. The project is designed to deliver a modern, high-performing and reliable S-Bahn system for passengers across Berlin and Brandenburg over the coming decades. The scope of the project encompasses, inter alia, the supply of 350 trains for the Berlin S-Bahn network, their maintenance over a period of 30 years, and their operation on the North-South and Stadtbahn subnetworks for a period of 15 years.

Baker McKenzie provided comprehensive legal advice to the consortium partners on the formation of the joint venture and all corporate law aspects in connection with its structuring and implementation.
