A Glen Parva resident is preparing to take on the Amsterdam Marathon in October to support mental health charity CALM. Graham Hall will join 32,000 other runners for the major sporting event on Sunday, October 18.
Having experienced mental health struggles in recent years, Graham hopes to raise £1,000 for the Campaign Against Living Miserably. He said: “I am hoping to raise £1,000 for the charity, and people have until mid-January to donate.
“I am about three quarters of the way to reaching my total – so we just need a bit more to get over the finish line. This is an anti-suicide charity providing helpline support and many other resources aimed at prevention of suicide.
“I strongly believe in the work of this charity having suffered with my own mental health over the years. I also possess experience of the effects of depression, anxiety and substance misuse – often leading to suicide or attempts to do have on family and friends. Every step I take will be dedicated to those who struggle in silence and need our help.”
Anyone wishing to support the fundraising effort can donate through Graham’s JustGiving page here.
