On February 7, the Kristjan Palusalu Memorial International Wrestling Tournament kicks off at Kalevi Spordihall in Tallinn — one of the region’s most prestigious early-season events. The first matches begin at 11:00 local time.

Even before the opening whistle, the tournament drew attention in Estonia due to Armenia’s powerhouse lineup. Local media and wrestling insiders jokingly dubbed it the “Estonian-Armenian duel,” highlighting the strength and depth of the Armenian roster.

The draw will take place on February 6 at 18:00 Estonian time, likely shaping several early key matchups.

Armenian Stars Set the Tone

All eyes are on Olympic medalist and reigning world champion Malkhas Amoyan in Greco-Roman, as well as four-time European freestyle champion Arsen Harutyunyan. Their presence has stirred considerable buzz in Estonia.

For the Armenian team, this will be the first official outing of the 2026 season — a crucial test of form after the off-season.

Format and Schedule

Both freestyle and Greco-Roman styles will be contested. Main bouts begin at 11:00 on Saturday, with Sunday following the same schedule. The opening ceremony is set for 13:00, and finals at 14:00.

Athletes from 14 European countries are expected, but matches involving Armenian wrestlers are already seen as the weekend’s highlights.
