Families gathered in Solvang Park on Friday to ring in the New Year — Denmark time.

The Danish-themed New Year’s Eve celebration, billed the “Copenhagen Countdown,” celebrated the start of 2026 in the Santa Ynez Valley, matching midnight in Denmark and serving as an alternative to late-night New Year’s festivities.

The family-friendly event featured live music, food and beverages, children’s activities and an early 3 p.m. countdown as part of Solvang’s monthlong Julefest season that highlighted the town’s Danish heritage.
