“On arrival, paramedics found an adult male, believed to be about 45 years old, who had collapsed while fishing,” Botha said.
He said bystanders had already started cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and called for help.
Advanced Life Support paramedics continued resuscitation efforts on the shoreline.
“For nearly an hour, medical teams worked to restore the patient’s heartbeat using advanced cardiac protocols,” Botha said.
Despite these efforts, the man did not respond.

“He was declared dead on the scene,” said Botha.
He commended the bystanders for acting swiftly.
“Their decision to start early CPR gave the patient the best possible chance of survival,” he said.
Botha said the incident highlights the importance of CPR training.
“These skills remain the first line of defence in life-threatening emergencies,” he said.
The scene was handed over to local authorities for standard investigative procedures.
