Meeting at the Warsaw School of Economics
Ibete Fernández Hernández, Cuba’s ambassador to Poland, paid a visit to the Warsaw School of Economics (SGH), Poland’s oldest university.
At the university, she was received by the Vice Rector for International Relations, Mr. Jacek Prokop; the Dean of the SGH School of World Economics, Mr. Mariusz Prochniak; and the Deputy Director of the Center for International Cooperation and the Department of Economics, Ms. Malgorzata Znoykowicz-Wierzbicka.
They discussed impressions of the seminar held last year in Havana: “Cuba and Poland: Comparative Experiences” and the possibility of continuing it.
During the meeting, the Ambassador commented on the Cuban government’s Economic and Social Program, which involves profound economic transformations. She also highlighted the importance of continuing to promote these knowledge exchanges, which must be adapted to the specific context of each country; in Cuba’s case, economic policies have had to be adapted to coexist with a commercial and financial blockade for over 60 years.
The meeting provided an opportunity to strengthen cooperative ties with the center and to continue bolstering bilateral relations within the framework of the Intergovernmental Agreement on Cooperation in the Fields of Education, Culture, and Sports.
