A milestone moment arrived for the twins of King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark. Now 15, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine are stepping into a meaningful royal tradition, following in the footsteps of their older siblings, Prince Christian and Princess Isabella, who marked their own confirmations on March 18 at Fredensborg Castle Church, surrounded by close family and friends.

For this occasion, the Princess chose a classic, timeless style perfectly suited for the event in the historical color white, loaded with meaning. It is traditional, not only in the Danish Royal Family but in many parts of the world, for the protagonists of this sacrament to wear this tone representing peace, light, and purity. Princess Isabella did the same, and Josephine did not want to break the tradition, but she did innovate with small modern details.

An homage to Queen Margrethe’s 1955 style

The young Princess’s styling on her big day proves that it is possible to rejuvenate a historical look. She took as a reference the outfit worn by Queen Margrethe at her own confirmation on April 1, 1955, in the same location, but gave it a different and youthful air without renouncing the elegance and timeless sophistication expected for an important event.

She continued the idea of wearing a white long-sleeved dress with a fitted waist and a midi A-line skirt. However, instead of opting for the smooth, satiny fabrics popular in the 1950s, she preferred to give the design a more current image by playing with textures. She selected a piece crafted in a romantic fabric decorated with delicate 3D flower applications and small sparkling crystals. She also replaced the bateau neckline with a square one and added a belt in the same fabric to enhance her silhouette.

The Accessories

Josephine completed the look with pearl jewelry, a historical and traditional ornament. To her classic necklace, identical to the one her grandmother wore 71 years ago, she added fine hanging earrings with pearls of different sizes and a matching bracelet. Additionally, she wore a thin gold chain with a cross. She elevated her look with a pair of chic cream slingback pumps, featuring a sophisticated pointed toe and a practical kitten heel.

Hair and Makeup Details

For her beauty look, the princess was the picture of radiance, opting for an effortless, glowy finish perfectly suited to her fifteen years. Her eyes were subtly defined with a sweep of black mascara and a touch of champagne shimmer at the inner corners, a pro-approved trick to instantly brighten the gaze and add a luminous touch to the face. She styled her long brown hair in a half-up, half-down look with a center part and very natural waves, an option that keeps the face clear while achieving a much more youthful result than a full updo.
