The American Legion Auxiliary Ralph Parker Unit 682 is announcing two Warsaw High School students, Ava Gibson and Courtney Lucie, have been selected to attend the 85th session of the American Legion Auxiliary Illini Girls State program, which will be held June 21–27 at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.
Illini Girls State is a prestigious, once-in-a-lifetime leadership opportunity that allows young women to gain firsthand experience in government, leadership, citizenship, and civic engagement through a week of hands-on participation and activities. Established in 1937, the program has inspired generations of young women to become informed and engaged leaders in their communities.
Our Unit is proud to promote this leadership opportunity to students at Warsaw High School, and we are extremely proud of Ava and Courtney. We know they will be outstanding delegates and excellent representatives of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Unit 682 is sponsoring one delegate, and we are also very appreciative of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 569 of Milan, Illinois, within District 14, for generously sponsoring the second delegate so that both young ladies can attend this exceptional program.
The group also extends its appreciation to Warsaw High School counselor Elizabeth Cepeda for her assistance in helping connect students with this opportunity.
Congratulations again to Ava and Courtney on this exciting achievement!
