Skrillex has launched CONTRA. The American producer’s new platform stages its first event on May 30 and 31 at Kraftwerk Berlin, with more than 70 artists across a two-night takeover of the former power plant in collaboration with Berlin Atonal.
Then the takeover stretches across Kraftwerk’s adjacent rooms — Tresor, Globus, and OHM all come into play. The American producer built the platform around the collision of contemporary music scenes, with the inaugural Kraftwerk weekend running across club music, experimental sound, live performance, and the in-between zones where those scenes blend.
The lineup is heavy. Skrillex plays alongside Bladee, Ecco2K, Blawan, Juliana Huxtable, Crystallmess, BNYX, Malibu, Nick León, Tohji & Mechatok, Varg²™, KAVARI, ISOxo, Knock2, Isabella Lovestory, Nai Barghouti, Flowdan, Slikback, Batu, JASSS, Toma Kami, Bill Kouligas, and Slim Soledad, plus many more across the weekend.
Also, Paris studio Matière Noire is on board for environmental design, reshaping Kraftwerk’s industrial scale into more intimate, light-warped atmospheres. Now Skrillex uses CONTRA as the platform to push emerging sounds and ideas into bigger cultural rooms. Find more from CONTRA via Berlin Atonal.
