Brittany Ferries and DFDS are competing for the renewal of the contract for the Dieppe-Newhaven line, according to the digital publication parís-normandie.fr, which refers to the existence of two candidates. This is a public service contract called by the Seine Government and open at a European level, which has not always received the expected response against other competing ports, although interest seems to be increasing now.
Since 2006, the Dieppe-Newhaven line has featured two main ferries built in Spain, which are a repetition of the “Volcán de Timanfaya” project by Naviera Armas. They are called “Seven Sisters” and “Cote d’Albatre” and were built at Astilleros Barreras on behalf of Transmanche Ferries, a company of LD Lines, and have been chartered by DFDS since May 2013.
