From June 1, prospective students can submit applications for first-cycle and integrated study programmes at the university, known locally as VU.

For the 2026 intake, VU is offering 140 programmes in three Lithuanian cities: Vilnius, the capital; Kaunas, the country’s second-largest city; and Šiauliai, a regional centre in northern Lithuania.

Applications are handled through Lithuania’s central higher education admissions system, LAMA BPO. The process has a main round and two supplementary rounds.

Stage
Deadline

Main admissions round
June 1 to July 23, 12:00

First supplementary round
August 4 to August 7, 12:00

Second supplementary round
August 14 to August 17

VU 450th anniversary scholarship applications
Until July 23

Applicants who want to apply for the VU 450th anniversary scholarship must list Vilnius University as their first choice in their application for first-cycle or integrated studies.

VU says the 450th anniversary scholarship is intended for talented applicants whose financial situation could make the start of university studies more difficult. The scholarship is worth 3,000 euros per year and is paid as 300 euros per month for 10 months.

Applicants may apply if their family’s average monthly income over the previous three months did not exceed 600 euros per person. They must also not have previously obtained a bachelor’s or master’s qualification and must not have received a VU birthday scholarship before.

The university says the support is aimed especially at first-year students who may need to move to a larger city, find accommodation and adapt to a new environment. According to VU, two thirds of its students come from smaller towns and districts.

Last year, the university awarded 105 of these scholarships. The annual fund for the VU 450th anniversary scholarships amounts to 300,000 euros, with business partners also contributing in recent years.

Vilnius University is offering 140 study programmes across Vilnius, Kaunas and Šiauliai. These include first-cycle programmes, comparable to bachelor’s studies, and integrated studies, which combine first and second-cycle education in some fields.

Since 2023, VU has also offered individualised studies. This option allows a student admitted to a bachelor’s or integrated programme to choose part of their coursework from other VU units. The university says this is intended to help students broaden their knowledge, skills and interdisciplinary experience.

Before submitting an application, applicants should review their chosen programmes, admission score requirements, scholarship eligibility rules and any documents needed to prove household income.

Applications for the 2026-2027 VU 450th anniversary scholarship are accepted until July 23.

                                Context & actions
About this article

                                Report
Share

                    Source check

ScopeLietuva

Updated2026-06-01 08:14

        Report

                        Article contextPeople & topics#7

Vilnius University has opened its main admissions period for applicants to Lithuanian higher education institutions.
