BERLIN \u2014 Five children from Berlin have been named district champions of the 2026 Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship and will advance to the state finals.<\/p>\n
The boys and girls, ages 9 to 12, earned their titles during the district championship held this past weekend at St. Luke Catholic School. The event was sponsored by Isabella Council No. 15 of Southington. Winners from local competitions in Berlin, Meriden and Southington were eligible to compete.<\/p>\n
In the 9-year-old division, Jaxon Williams won the boys\u2019 bracket, and Madelyn Patterson won the girls\u2019 bracket. Ireland Sutton was named the girls\u2019 champion in the 10-year-old division. Francesca Alkas won the girls\u2019 title in the 11-year-old bracket. Andrew Glowicki won the boys\u2019 championship in the 12-year-old division after four tie-breaker rounds.<\/p>\n
All five winners will compete in the state championship on March 28 at St. Paul High School in Bristol.<\/p>\n
The Knights of Columbus Council 3675 in Berlin helped support the event.<\/p>\n
