{"id":1037,"date":"2026-02-06T13:05:24","date_gmt":"2026-02-06T13:05:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/1037\/"},"modified":"2026-02-06T13:05:24","modified_gmt":"2026-02-06T13:05:24","slug":"stoxx-600-ftse-100-gbp-corporate-earnings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/1037\/","title":{"rendered":"Stoxx 600, FTSE 100, GBP, corporate earnings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>People visit a lookout point in Greenwich Park, with the Canary Wharf financial district in the distance, during sunny weather but cold weather in London, U.K., on Jan. 2, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Henry Nicholls | Afp | Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>European stock markets opened lower on Friday, as a week full of corporate earnings reports draws to a close. <\/p>\n<p>The pan-European <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.STOXX\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Stoxx 600<\/a> was down 0.37% just before 8:45 a.m. (3:45 a.m.), with major bourses and most sectors in negative territory.<\/p>\n<p>This week has seen share prices influenced by earnings updates from some of Europe&#8217;s biggest companies, including pharmaceutical giant <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/NVO\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Novo Nordisk<\/a>, oil major <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/SHEL-GB\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Shell<\/a>, and various banking heavyweights. <\/p>\n<p>Friday is set to be a quieter day on the earnings front. <\/p>\n<p>Danish offshore wind developer Orsted gained 4.1% in early dealmaking after its fourth-quarter earnings showed revenues were up 9.8% compared to the same period a year ago. Its EBITDA came in at 25.1 billion krone ($3.9 billion), within the 24-27 billion krone guidance, with a net profit for the year of 3.2 billion krone.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>French lender <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/GLE-FR\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Societe Generale<\/a> was down 3% after publishing its fourth-quarter earnings.<\/p>\n<p>Milan-listed shares in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/STLA\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Stellantis<\/a> plummeted 18%, its largest slide since June 2020, after the carmaker announced a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/02\/06\/stellantis-reset-business-electric-vehicles.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">wide-ranging business reset<\/a> costing $26 billion. Other French auto stocks also fell Friday morning, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/FR-FR\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Valeo<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/FAU-FF\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Forvia<\/a> both down more than 1.2% and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/RNO-FR\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Renault<\/a> sliding 2%.<\/p>\n<p>In corporate news, mining giants <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/RIO-GB\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Rio Tinto<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/GLEN-GB\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Glencore<\/a> both fell Thursday after confirming they had abandoned <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/01\/09\/rio-tinto-glencore-talks-mega-merger-mining.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">talks<\/a> over a potential megamerger, which would have created the biggest mining company in the world. Rio Tinto dropped 1.2%, with Glencore down 1.1%<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The parties were unable to reach agreement on the terms of a combination,&#8221; Glencore said in a statement. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The key terms of the potential offer were Rio Tinto retaining both the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer roles and delivering a proforma ownership of the combined company which, in our view, significantly undervalued Glencore&#8217;s underlying relative value contribution to the combined group, even before consideration of a suitable acquisition control premium.&#8221;\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>Thursday saw both the Bank of England and the European Central Bank <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/02\/05\/european-markets-stoxx-600-shell-anglo-american-maersk-earnings.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">hold<\/a> interest rates steady.
