On Tuesday in Brussels, LSDP leader met with acting chairman of the party Democrats For Lithuania, Virginijus Sinkevi\u010dius, and leader of the Farmers and Greens Union (LV\u017dS), Aurelijus Veryga.<\/p>\n
The three of them discussed prospects of forming the new ruling coalition after the LSDP decided to remove the Nemunas Dawn party from the current coalition.<\/p>\n
LSDP leader confirmed that the Government\u2019s programme would change but said it was too early to say in which areas.<\/p>\n
Asked about the Cabinet reshuffle, LSDP leader Mindaugas Sinkevi\u010dius said it was discussed how the three parties could share the areas of responsibilities but an agreement has not been finalised yet.<\/p>\n
As reported, the LSDP Council convened on 6 June and decided to remove the Nemunas Dawn party led by MP Remigijus \u017demaitaitis from the ruling coalition. Afterwards, consultations began with Democrats For Lithuania to replace it.<\/p>\n
Tension among the three ruling parties mounted when some of the lawmakers from the Nemunas Dawn opposed creating a new military training area in Kap\u010diamiestis.<\/p>\n
Some Social Democrats have numerous times criticised the coalition with the Nemunas Dawn, while President Gitanas Naus\u0117da recently became increasingly vocal on this issue as well.<\/p>\n
In November 2024, the LSDP, the Nemunas Dawn and Democrats For Lithuania formed the ruling coalition following parliamentary elections the previous month.<\/p>\n
However, then Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas resigned at the end of July 2025 amid a journalistic investigation into his suspicious business ties.<\/p>\n
