Greece\u2019s Minister of National Economy and Finance and President of the Eurogroup, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, is travelling to Brussels for meetings focused on economic policy, security and strategic cooperation.<\/p>\n
During his visit, Pierrakakis is expected to meet with International Monetary Fund (IMF<\/a>) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, where Greece\u2019s participation in the IMF\u2019s new Southeast Europe Technical Assistance Centre (SEETAC) will be officially announced.<\/p>\n Greece to contribute to regional development initiative<\/p>\n Greece will contribute \u20ac5 million to SEETAC, strengthening its role in supporting economic reforms, stability and closer alignment with the European Union in Southeast Europe.<\/p>\n Through its participation in the center\u2019s governance mechanisms, Greece will have an active role in shaping technical assistance priorities for countries in the Western Balkans and Moldova, supporting their European integration efforts.<\/a><\/p>\n NEWSLETTER TABLE TALK<\/p>\n Never miss a story. The move marks a significant shift for Greece, which in previous years received international financial support through IMF programs and is now participating as a contributor to a development initiative aimed at strengthening institutions and reforms in neighboring countries.<\/p>\n Talks with NATO chief on defense financing<\/p>\n Pierrakakis is also scheduled to meet with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.<\/p>\n
