The venue will become GRIMM’s principal Amsterdam gallery, complementing its existing locations in London and New York.

The move marks the latest stage in the gallery’s continued growth following its relocation to a larger London space on Duke Street, St James’s, in November 2025. Together, the developments reflect GRIMM’s long-term strategy of expanding opportunities for its artists across exhibition, publishing and residency programmes.

Founded in Amsterdam more than two decades ago by Jorg Grimm, the gallery has developed an international reputation for representing artists across generations and disciplines while maintaining a strongly artist-centred approach.

“We are excited to offer our artists a new and larger exhibition space in Amsterdam – the city where the gallery was founded a little over 20 years ago – and we are proud of our recent move to Duke Street, St James’s,”

said founder Jorg Grimm.

“Following the gallery’s establishment in London in 2022, this move is a logical progression, and in line with the gallery’s goal: to provide the best possible platform for our artists.”

The inaugural exhibition at the new Amsterdam gallery will feature Dutch painter Robert Zandvliet, presenting new works from his ongoing Paradaidha series alongside paintings shown recently at Kunsthalle Darmstadt and the Franz Gertsch Museum. Future exhibitions will include Charles Avery in October and Saskia Noor van Imhoff in November.

Alongside the Amsterdam expansion, GRIMM is launching a new residency programme at Château Val Croissant, an 18th-century estate in Provence acquired by the gallery. Opening this summer, the residency will accommodate up to five artists and their families at a time.

Unlike many residency programmes, Château Val Croissant is designed as a long-term resource where artists can return repeatedly over the years rather than participate in fixed-term stays. Writers, curators and other cultural practitioners will also be invited to spend time at the site.

“It is important to continue to create new opportunities for our artists,”

Grimm said.

“Our residency programme has no time constraints; artists may come and go as they please, if space allows, and gallery artists may propose others to join them.”

“There will also be space for writers, curators and other guests to visit. It’s a place for the community, nestled in an area that is brimming with cultural activity.”

The announcement comes at a time when galleries are increasingly looking beyond traditional exhibition models, investing in publishing, residencies and artist support initiatives alongside their commercial programmes. For GRIMM, the combination of expanded gallery spaces and a permanent residency programme signals a continued commitment to providing artists with both visibility and sustained creative support.

About

GRIMM is an international contemporary art gallery with locations in Amsterdam (NL), New York, NY (US) and London
(UK). Founded in 2005, the gallery’s mission has been to represent and support the work of emerging and mid-career
artists. In addition to the exhibitions that the gallery programs internationally, GRIMM maintains an in-house publishing series
that provides further critical insights into its artists’ practices. GRIMM is a proud member of the International Galleries
Alliance (IGA), Dutch Galleries Association (NGA) and the Gallery Climate Coalition (GCC).

Categories Tags Author

Mark Westall

Mark Westall is the Founder and Editor of FAD magazine –

Château Val Croissant GRIMM has announced a major expansion in its 20th anniversary year, opening a new flagship…

[101
199,53287,53408,3356,53281,53292,114,200,1453,53409,53410
post-104748","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-amsterdam","tag-amsterdam","tag-artist-residency","tag-charles-avery","tag-contemporary-art","tag-grimm","tag-jorg-grimm","tag-london","tag-netherlands","tag-new-york","tag-robert-zandvliet","tag-saskia-noor-van-imhoff
["GET
