Christian Eriksen<\/a> is conscious after collapsing again<\/a> while playing for Denmark<\/a> during a friendly with Ukraine.<\/p>\n

Eriksen clutched his chest and fell to the ground in the 65th minute before medical personnel rushed to the midfielder\u2019s aid.<\/p>\n

The 34-year-old did lose consciousness momentarily but quickly regained it and was able to walk himself off the pitch. He will now undergo further examinations in hospital.<\/p>\n

The match, which Denmark were leading 2-1 through first-half goals from Patrick Dorgu<\/a> and Joakim Maelhe, was subsequently abandoned in the 79th minute.<\/p>\n

The Dane previously suffered a cardiac arrest<\/a> in June 2021 while representing his country at the European Championships.<\/p>\n

\u201cChristian Eriksen is conscious and doing well under the circumstances,\u201d the Danish national team confirmed on its official X account.<\/p>\n

All players and staff from both teams huddled together after the match was curtailed early in a moment of solidarity, while fans in both the home and away ends chanted Eriksen\u2019s name.<\/p>\n

Providing more details, Denmark doctor Morten Boesen added: \u201cChristian is doing well and left the pitch himself. As I see it, the pacemaker responded as it should.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was briefly unconscious, but regained consciousness very quickly, and we were quickly in contact with him.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe will now undergo further examinations at the hospital to determine what caused the incident. We are in constant contact with him and the doctors at the hospital.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut Christian is doing well, and he asked me to send his regards to all the players and say that he was okay.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ukraine head coach Andrea Maldera did not take any questions during his press conference, expressing support from his side towards Eriksen, his family as well as Denmark\u2019s team and fans.<\/p>\n

\u201cOut of respect for him \u2013 it would not be right to talk about football right now,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

A statement from Wolfsburg<\/a>, his current club, read: \u201cWe\u2019re thinking of you, Christian.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are in close contact with the Danish Football Association and are following further developments.<\/p>\n

Christian Eriksen returned to action just eight months after the harrowing incident in 2020 (PA Wire)<\/p>\n

It comes five years after Eriksen\u2019s cardiac arrest at Euro 2020<\/a> during a group stage match against Finland<\/a>, when his heart stopped for roughly five minutes.<\/p>\n

Eriksen received immediate CPR from teammate and then-captain Simon Kjaer<\/a>, which proved invaluable in saving his life, before a defibrillator was used on the Parken pitch in Copenhagen.<\/p>\n

The former Tottenham star was astonishingly able to make a full recovery after being given an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD), which can detect dangerous heart rhythms and deliver corrective electrical shocks if necessary. It is speculated an ICD shock may have prompted him to clutch his chest.<\/p>\n

While he was unable to play for his then-current club Inter Milan<\/a> due to the ICD, with Italian football regulations prohibiting him, he went on to restart his professional career at Brentford<\/a> in January 2022, returning to action just eight months after the harrowing incident at the Euros.<\/p>\n

He made a comeback for Denmark two months later before joining Manchester United<\/a> that summer, where he played for three years.<\/p>\n
