{"id":108450,"date":"2026-06-15T18:51:11","date_gmt":"2026-06-15T18:51:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/108450\/"},"modified":"2026-06-15T18:51:11","modified_gmt":"2026-06-15T18:51:11","slug":"new-coalition-parties-distribute-ministerial-posts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/108450\/","title":{"rendered":"New coalition parties distribute ministerial posts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Lithuanian Social Democratic Party (LSDP), the main coalition party, will continue leading 9 ministries, while Democrats For Lithuania will oversee 3 and the Farmers and Greens Union (LV\u017dS) will be responsible for 2.<\/p>\n<p>However, the draft agreement of the coalition does not state which ministry will go to which party.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, the media reported that Democrats For Lithuania would oversee the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Health and either the Ministry of Environment or Agriculture.<\/p>\n<p>Based on media reports, the party would nominate MP Tomas Tomilinas as environment minister and Lukas Savickas as energy minister.<\/p>\n<p>LV\u017dS leader MEP Aurelijus Veryga last week said that his party would continue running the Ministry of the Economy and Innovation and the Ministry of Justice, with Edvinas Grik\u0161as and Rita Tama\u0161unien\u0117 at the helm respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Until now, the LSDP has headed 9 ministries: Finance, National Defence, Culture, Social Security and Labour, Transport and Communications, Health, Foreign Affairs, the Interior, and Science, Education and Sports.<\/p>\n<p>Decisions on ministerial portfolios are expected to be finalised on Monday evening.<\/p>\n<p>The LSDP will also nominate the head of government and the parliament speaker.<\/p>\n<p>Social Democratic leader Mindaugas Sinkevi\u010dius has reportedly decided to take on the role of prime minister and replace incumbent Inga Ruginien\u0117.<\/p>\n<p>As reported, the LSDP Council decided on 6 June that the Nemunas Dawn party, led by MP Remigijus \u017demaitaitis, would be removed from the ruling coalition and replaced by Democrats For Lithuania.<\/p>\n<p>In November 2024, the LSDP, the Nemunas Dawn and Democrats For Lithuania formed the ruling coalition following parliamentary elections the previous month.<\/p>\n<p>However, then Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas resigned at the end of July 2025 amid a journalistic investigation into his suspicious business ties.<\/p>\n<p>Afterwards, the LSDP formed a new ruling coalition with the Nemunas Dawn and the LV\u017dS, with Social Democrat Inga Ruginien\u0117 becoming the head of government.<\/p>\n<p>After the latest reshuffle, the new ruling coalition of the LSDP, Democrats For Lithuania and the LV\u017dS would have 75 seats in the Seimas out of 141.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Lithuanian Social Democratic Party (LSDP), the main coalition party, will continue leading 9 ministries, while Democrats For&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":108451,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":"","_share_on_mastodon":"0"},"categories":[93],"tags":[4082,171,170],"class_list":["post-108450","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-vilnius","tag-coalition","tag-lithuania","tag-vilnius"],"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@dk\/116755633646820312","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/108450","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=108450"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/108450\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/108451"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=108450"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=108450"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=108450"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
