(NewsNation<\/a>) \u2014 Dr. Phil is joining modern-day oil prospectors looking to tap into Greenland\u2019s oil-dense peninsula.<\/p>\n

Oil companies have long tried and failed to strike liquid gold in the Arctic nation. Today, only one company, Greenland Energy Company<\/a>, has\u00a0onshore drilling rights, and it happens to be American.<\/p>\n

Dr. Phil McGraw is hosting \u201cArctic Wildcatters,\u201d a six-part docuseries\u00a0in this far-flung tundra that could hold the key to a new global energy order, where Greenland Energy Company will embark on the island\u2019s first modern onshore oil exploration.<\/p>\n

McGraw will travel to Greenland to film the series, slated to premiere late summer on McGraw\u2019s Envoy TV. He joined \u201cElizabeth Vargas Reports<\/a>\u201d on Tuesday to discuss the forthcoming venture.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy first trip will be in July, the warmest part, and it is going to get cold from\u00a0there. But as you said, there\u2019s a potential 13 billion barrels of oil there,\u201d McGraw said.<\/p>\n

McGraw said he crossed Robert Price\u00a0and Larry Swets, the CEO and chairman, respectively, of Greenland Energy Company, in Texas which was the genesis for the show. Greenland Energy Co. is not backed by major oil companies.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf this hits the way they believe it will,\u00a0and I think they\u2019re really on to something here, this will change Greenland and the lives of the\u00a0people there forever,\u201d McGraw told NewsNation.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019ll change the world. You\u2019re talking about a lot of oil here,\u00a0a lot of natural gas here, and this will change the lives of these people, I think, in a very\u00a0positive way forever.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis will become a bonanza for these folks and a bonanza for\u00a0Greenland, of course, but a lot of this oil will go to Europe, and it\u2019ll decompress\u00a0the leverage that people controlling, like, the Strait of Hormuz, for example. This decompresses\u00a0the Europe market as well as the U.S.\u201d<\/p>\n
