The 52-year-old royal was diagnosed in 2018 with a rare form of pulmonary fibrosis, a disease that leads to lung scarring and breathing difficulties. At the time of her diagnosis, she noted that she had experienced health issues for several years and that the condition might occasionally impact her professional duties.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Arnt Fiane, a cardiothoracic surgeon and professor of medicine at the University of Oslo, expressed satisfaction that the transplant procedure had progressed well so far. He indicated that the Crown Princess would stay in the hospital for several weeks to allow medical staff to adjust medications, address potential complications, and support her recovery.<\/p>\n<p>The palace released a statement on Wednesday conveying the Crown Prince and Crown Princess&#8217;s deep appreciation for the many warm messages they have received, stating that such support means a great deal during this difficult period.<\/p>\n<p>This health development follows shortly after Mette-Marit&#8217;s eldest son, Marius Borg Hoiby, was sentenced to four years in prison. He was convicted on two counts of rape and additional offenses, though he was acquitted on two other rape charges.
