Before joining COP in 2022, he held several leadership roles at Parkwind, where he advanced projects in Belgium \u2014 including Nobelwind, Northwind and Northwester 2 \u2014 as well as the Arcadis Ost project in Germany. Since joining COP, he served as CEO of COP Japan, helping structure the group&#8217;s presence in that market and supporting its broader Asia-Pacific strategy.<\/p>\n<p>Jesper Krarup Holst, COP Partner and Head of APAC, states that the incoming CEO brings &#8220;exactly the right vision, leadership, and expertise needed&#8221; to deliver on the group&#8217;s ambitious pipeline in South Korea. Cl\u00e9ment Helbig de Balzac said offshore wind is &#8220;a strategic opportunity for Korea&#8221; and that he looks forward to close collaboration with the Korean government, stakeholders and partners.<\/p>\n<p>An Approximately 5 GW Portfolio Across Key Development Sites<\/p>\n<p>COP Korea is advancing an approximately 5 GW offshore wind project portfolio across key regions including Taean, Ulsan and Shinan in Jeonnam Province. Projects in development include Taean Wind Power, Haewoori Offshore Wind, Haesong Offshore Wind and Jeonnam Offshore Wind. The company indicates the focus is on progressing these projects to their next phases, targeting what it describes as &#8220;tangible and measurable outcomes&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The appointment comes as the South Korean offshore wind market gains momentum, driven by the Seoul government&#8217;s stated energy transition ambitions. COP intends to leverage its European and Japanese track record to reinforce its long-term position in the peninsula.<\/p>\n<p>Jonathan Spink Departs COP Korea Leadership for Australia<\/p>\n<p>Jonathan Spink, who has led COP Korea since 2023, played a key role in establishing the company&#8217;s presence in the local market and initiating project development. He will relocate to Australia to continue his career in the energy sector.
