When police arrived at the scene, they found a male victim with a stab wound to his stomach. The victim received initial treatment from the Amsterdam Fire Department before being transported to Albany Medical Center for further care.<\/p>\n
Following the stabbing, a multi-agency investigation was launched. Amsterdam Police Detectives worked alongside the New York State Police and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office to canvas the neighborhood, interview witnesses, and review security footage from the area. Their investigation led to Vazquez-Sifontes being identified as the suspect, resulting in a warrant for his arrest.<\/p>\n
On Wednesday (January 24), members of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office located and arrested Vazquez-Sifontes without incident. He was then transferred to the custody of the Amsterdam Police Department.<\/p>\n
Following his arrest, Vazquez-Sifontes appeared in Amsterdam City Court for arraignment before Judge Lisa W. Lorman. He was remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility with bail set at $20,000 cash or $40,000 insurance bond.<\/p>\n
