Vilnius District Municipality Council approved a package of decisions on June 19 affecting tax relief, health and social services, education facilities, electric vehicle infrastructure and community premises.<\/p>\n
Vilnius District is the municipality surrounding Lithuania\u2019s capital, Vilnius. Several decisions have already been adopted, while proposals on incentives for police officers and a land purchase in Avi\u017eieniai are still due for a final vote at a later council meeting.<\/p>\n
The council updated the rules for granting municipal tax relief. Residents or families facing financial difficulties, as well as families that include people with disabilities, will be able to apply for reductions if the amount due is 75 euros or more.<\/p>\n
Businesses will receive longer relief periods in certain cases, including investment in the European Union border zone or the renovation of cultural heritage, science, culture or sports facilities. Additional relief is also planned for companies whose buildings include shelters intended for civilian protection.<\/p>\n
Applications for relief will be reviewed by the municipality\u2019s Economy and Asset Management Department.<\/p>\n
In Mai\u0161iagala, the municipality will begin procedures to acquire a building of almost 3,000 square metres and a 0.67-hectare land plot at Algirdo Street 7. The site is planned for additional classrooms for the Lithuanian Grand Duke Algirdas Gymnasium, a children\u2019s day centre, senior activity spaces and expanded outpatient medical services.<\/p>\n
In Rie\u0161\u0117, the council approved negotiations over the purchase of a building of more than 565 square metres at Pergal\u0117s Street 7. The plan is to establish an outpatient unit of Vilnius District Polyclinic, relocate an emergency medical point and open a library branch.<\/p>\n
In Suderv\u0117, 244.22 square metres of premises at Vilniaus Street 19A will be entrusted to Vilnius District Polyclinic for 20 years. In Veri\u0161k\u0117s, the local village community will receive 60.50 square metres of non-residential premises at Dvarviet\u0117s Street 10 for free use until August 31, 2029.<\/p>\n
The municipality will take part in the project \u201cAssistance for Children with Disabilities in Lithuania\u201d. Vilnius District is allocated 1,108,328.09 euros in European Union and state funding.<\/p>\n
By the summer of 2029, at least 60 children with moderate or severe disabilities and their parents are expected to receive free specialist support. Planned services include speech therapy, psychological assistance, movement correction, support for the prevention of behavioural difficulties and family coordinators.<\/p>\n
Unused municipal buildings in Karkl\u0117nai and Parudaminys villages will be transferred for group accommodation services for people with intellectual and\/or psychosocial disabilities.<\/p>\n
In \u0160umskas, the municipality will buy a 0.23-hectare plot next to the cemetery. The land is valued at 3,740 euros and is planned for a car park, portable toilets and tool stands for cemetery maintenance.<\/p>\n
By 2030, Vilnius District plans to install 47 publicly accessible electric vehicle charging points. The largest numbers are planned in Nem\u0117\u017eis, Nemen\u010din\u0117 town, Pagiriai and Rudamina elderships. In Lithuania, an eldership is a local administrative unit within a municipality.<\/p>\n
The council also approved the list and fees for services provided by the Vilnius District Sports Centre. District residents using the \u201cArti\u201d card or app, as well as school pupils, students, seniors and people with disabilities, will be eligible for a 50 percent discount on tracks, the shooting range and sports equipment rental.<\/p>\n
The council has also received a proposal on financial incentives to attract police officers to the Vilnius District Police Commissariat. Another proposal concerns the purchase of a 0.68-hectare forestry land plot in Avi\u017eieniai for residents\u2019 recreation, education and sport.<\/p>\n
If the submitted proposals are accepted for further consideration, they will be reviewed in council committees before a final vote at the next council meeting.<\/p>\n
