{"id":113528,"date":"2026-06-22T05:02:36","date_gmt":"2026-06-22T05:02:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/113528\/"},"modified":"2026-06-22T05:02:36","modified_gmt":"2026-06-22T05:02:36","slug":"sudbury-community-welcomes-guests-from-fredensborg-in-denmark-to-celebrate-20-years-of-twinning-partnership","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/113528\/","title":{"rendered":"Sudbury community welcomes guests from Fredensborg, in Denmark, to celebrate 20 years of twinning partnership"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Two decades of friendship between Sudbury and its twin town in Denmark shone bright last weekend, in a \u2018powerful reminder of what can be achieved when communities open their doors\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The Sudbury Town Twinning Association (STTA) welcomed a congregation from Fredensborg \u2013 which it has been officially twinned with since 2007 \u2013 from Thursday to Monday.<\/p>\n<p>It is one of three towns that has a formal twinning partnership with Sudbury, along with Clermont, in France, and H\u00f6xter, in Germany.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"rthmb\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg xmlns=\" http:=\"\" viewbox=\"0 0 2019 1510\" alt=\"The Sudbury Town Twinning Association, and Sudbury mayor Adrian Stohr, welcomed guests from Fredensborg in Denmark for a special visit. Picture: Contributed.<\/p>\n<p>The Danish guests, who included first-time and previous visitors to Sudbury, were treated to a variety of outings across the area, while staying with local families.<\/p>\n<p>This included a tour of Lavenham and its heritage on Friday, led by guide Angie Tillett, and a trip to Ickworth House on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The main event was a celebratory dinner held at Newton Green Golf Club on Sunday, attended by Sudbury mayor Adrian Stohr, who formally welcomed the Fredensborg group to the town.<\/p>\n<p>Following the event, Mr Stohr said it had been a pleasure to meet the guests and their organiser, Ulla Weyman, and hear about the \u2018wonderful connections\u2019 built over two decades.<\/p>\n<p>He paid tribute to the work of the STTA for creating \u2018something truly special and something our town should be immensely proud of\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat struck me throughout the evening was the genuine friendship that exists between our communities,\u201d Mr Stohr said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese relationships have been built through shared experiences, visits, conversations and a willingness to learn from one another.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when communities open their doors and embrace international friendship.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs mayor, I firmly believe that we do not always celebrate ourselves enough.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSudbury is a town rich in history, culture, business, community spirit and opportunity.
