{"id":114702,"date":"2026-06-23T13:32:11","date_gmt":"2026-06-23T13:32:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/114702\/"},"modified":"2026-06-23T13:32:11","modified_gmt":"2026-06-23T13:32:11","slug":"bicyclist-32-dies-in-upper-manhattan-crash-with-suv-driver-doesnt-stop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/114702\/","title":{"rendered":"Bicyclist, 32, dies in Upper Manhattan crash with SUV; driver doesn&#8217;t stop"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 32-year-old bicyclist <a href=\"https:\/\/data.cityofnewyork.us\/Public-Safety\/bicycle-accident\/4sdn-hu9a\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">was killed<\/a> after he was sideswiped on an Upper Manhattan street by a Dodge Durango driver who never stopped to see what happened, officials said Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>It was the second time in two days <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/2026\/06\/19\/boy-riding-electric-dirt-bike-harlem-fatally-crashes-suv\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a bicyclist was killed in Upper Manhattan<\/a>, cops said.<\/p>\n<p>The cyclist was heading south on Amsterdam Ave. near W. 151st St. at about 9:45 p.m. Friday when the 2021 Dodge Durango zoomed by, clipping him, cops said.<\/p>\n<p>The victim was trying to maneuver around a double-parked car when the passing Durango hit him, police said. He\u00a0was knocked into a parked vehicle and was thrown from his bike, landing on the asphalt.<\/p>\n<p>First responders found the victim suffering from a massive head injury and rushed him to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nychealthandhospitals.org\/locations\/harlem\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Harlem Hospital<\/a>, where he died. The victim\u2019s name was not immediately released as cops track down relatives.<\/p>\n<p>The driver of the Durango never stopped, witnesses told police.<\/p>\n<p>No arrests have been made.<\/p>\n<p>Cops were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/2022\/12\/26\/elite-nypd-squad-uses-surveillance-video-to-track-and-catch-criminals-we-take-a-lot-of-pride-in-our-work\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">scouring the area for surveillance footage<\/a> Saturday that could help them identify the driver.<\/p>\n<p>At around 8:50 p.m. on Thursday, a 13-year-old boy driving an electric dirt bike on W. 112th St. near Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd. was struck and killed by a vehicle when the dirt bike veered into oncoming traffic, officials said.<\/p>\n<p>The pre-teen was thrown from the bike, striking his head. Medics rushed him in critical condition to Harlem Hospital, where he died. The teen lived only two blocks away from the crash site, according to police.<\/p>\n<p>The 14-year-old boy riding with him sustained a leg injury. Medics rushed him in stable condition to Mount Sinai Morningside.<\/p>\n<p>The 63-year-old Chevy Tahoe driver, who was not injured, stayed at the scene.
