A heatwave is hitting Berlin on the weekend of June 27 and 28, 2026. With temperatures projected to hit 40\u00b0C or above on Sunday. The German Weather Service (DWD) has suggested a possible Level 2 heat warning \u2013 the highest warning level. <\/p>\n
The heat may very well break the record for Berlin\u2019s hottest recorded temperature. The last time Berlin hit such extreme heat was on August 7, 2015 when a temperature of 39.2\u00b0C was documented. Nighttime temperatures will also remain in the mid to high 20s, providing little relief from the heat, even at night. <\/p>\n
This heatwave is happening throughout Europe, the second heat wave within a month. Meteorologist Tim Steager from the ARD Weather Competence Center told rbb, \u201cThis was not known from the previous summers, this is really a phenomenon that becomes possible in the course of climate change.\u201d<\/p>\n
