Keanu Reeves<\/a> is set to enter the Lego universe, as the actor is in negotiations to star in a new live-action Lego movie directed by Toy Story 4 filmmaker Josh Cooley.<\/p>\n

According to industry sources<\/a>, the upcoming project will be a hybrid film combining live-action and animation. Produced by The Lego Group\u2019s Jill Wilfert and Ryan Christians, the movie is currently in development at Universal Pictures, with plot details being kept under wraps.<\/p>\n

This marks a high-profile reunion between Reeves and Cooley, who previously collaborated on Toy Story 4<\/a>. Reeves voiced the fan-favorite character Duke Caboom in the Oscar-winning film, which grossed over $1 billion worldwide and won Best Animated Feature.<\/p>\n

Universal has been working to relaunch the Lego film franchise since securing the rights in 2020. After multiple scripts and creative attempts failed to move forward, the studio reportedly shifted its strategy by building the project around an A-list star. Reeves\u2019 involvement became a turning point, with Cooley later brought in to pitch a vision that ultimately secured the actor\u2019s interest.<\/p>\n

The timing is crucial for the studio. Insiders say Universal faces a deadline to move the film into production within the next six months or risk losing the Lego rights altogether.<\/p>\n

Josh Cooley remains in high demand following the success of Transformers One (2024), which was well received by both critics and audiences. He is also attached to several upcoming projects, including adaptations of Malamander, Little Monsters, and Disney\u2019s Tower of Terror.<\/p>\n
