{"id":117929,"date":"2026-06-28T14:10:09","date_gmt":"2026-06-28T14:10:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/117929\/"},"modified":"2026-06-28T14:10:09","modified_gmt":"2026-06-28T14:10:09","slug":"brussels-next-stop-for-un-cyprus-envoy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/117929\/","title":{"rendered":"Brussels next stop for UN Cyprus envoy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Brussels is the next stop for UN envoy Maria Angela Holguin, who is still working on the instructions of United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres to hold a new series of contacts with the aim of convening a new expanded conference on the Cyprus problem.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, Holguin was due to meet President of the European Council Antonio Costa but that meeting has not been put off until July 13.<\/p>\n<p>On the agenda of the meeting will be EU-Turkish issues and how they can contribute to progress on the Cyprus problem.<\/p>\n<p>The envoy has also requested a meeting with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, recognising the important role her new envoy, expected to be appointed in the coming days, can play.<\/p>\n<p>After Brussels, Holguin will return to Cyprus in the first days of July where she will meet both leaders.<\/p>\n<p>Holguin was last in Cyprus in early June where she met both <a href=\"https:\/\/cyprus-mail.com\/2026\/06\/08\/holguin-preparing-for-enlarged-cyprus-meeting\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">President Nikos<\/a> Christodoulides and Turkish Cypriot leader <a href=\"https:\/\/cyprus-mail.com\/2026\/06\/12\/holguin-sets-out-timeline-for-cyprus-problem-next-steps-after-erhurman-meeting\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tufan Erhurman<\/a>.
