News Now Warsaw<\/p>\n

WARSAW \u2014 Wongs restaurant, likely the oldest existing Chinese restaurant in Warsaw, has been shut down over a code violation and may not likely reopen.<\/p>\n

Two signs previously posted in the storefront door on Anchorage Road announced the closing of the business.<\/p>\n

Next to it was a notice from the Warsaw Wayne Fire Territory Fire Marshal, Jeremy Williams, announcing that the kitchen could not be used because of a code violation involving a kitchen vent system.<\/p>\n

The problem was the potential buildup of grease-laden vapors in the air and on equipment because of the faulty vent system.<\/p>\n

Williams explained the circumstances.<\/p>\n

\u201cUltimately, they\u2019re in their frying and cooking with all those woks, putting all that grease into the air \u2026 which is flammable,\u201d Williams said. \u201cIt\u2019s one spark away from creating a fire.\u201d<\/p>\n

The fire marshal was alerted to the situation by a third party, who had been hired to do maintenance.<\/p>\n

An inspection happened on March 9 an order to cease all cooking operations was issued on March 13, Williams said.<\/p>\n

A sign on the door said the building is for sale.<\/p>\n
