BERLIN, June 29 (Reuters) – It is the German \u200cgovernment’s aim to \u200cprevent domestic plant closures by \u200bVolkswagen, a spokesperson said on Monday, adding that it was nonetheless \u200ca company \u2060decision. <\/p>\n
“Our aim is to prevent the \u2060closure of sites in Germany,” the spokesperson \u200bsaid. <\/p>\n
“To achieve \u200bthis, \u200bthe right framework \u200cconditions must be in place, including the necessary competitive mechanisms. Incentives must be provided to \u200censure that these \u200bsites remain \u200bprofitable,” \u200bhe said. <\/p>\n
“In principle, \u200chowever, it is \u200balways \u200bup to the companies to make these decisions \u200bon \u200ccommercial grounds.” <\/p>\n
