As of mid-May, UP was handling only a single-digit percentage of this traffic.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"text text-block paragraph text-left neo-font-paragraph-xl-reg  yf-18d6y07\" style=\"text-decoration: none; font-style: normal; text-transform: none; text-align: inherit; font-variant-numeric: normal;\">But as of the week of June 1, UP&#8217;s share of the traffic surpassed 50%, and the following week, it was at 76%, RailState reports. Since the shift began in late May, UP has carried roughly 59% of the volume. RailState               <\/p>\n<p class=\"text text-block paragraph text-left neo-font-paragraph-xl-reg  yf-18d6y07\" style=\"text-decoration: none; font-style: normal; text-transform: none; text-align: inherit; font-variant-numeric: normal;\">UP spokeswoman Jill Micek said in an email to Trains that, &#8220;in general, we&#8217;re experiencing increases across carriers, consistent with an early peak season.&#8221; The company was unable to specifically address Maersk, she said, because it is in its quiet period before its quarterly earnings release. Federal securities regulations limit information that can be released to the public from late in the final month of a quarter until the release of its quarterly earnings information.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"text text-block paragraph text-left neo-font-paragraph-xl-reg  yf-18d6y07\" style=\"text-decoration: none; font-style: normal; text-transform: none; text-align: inherit; font-variant-numeric: normal;\">A BNSF spokesman said the railway could not comment on its commercial arrangement with Maersk.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"text text-block paragraph text-left neo-font-paragraph-xl-reg  yf-18d6y07\" style=\"text-decoration: none; font-style: normal; text-transform: none; text-align: inherit; font-variant-numeric: normal;\">A change in the Maersk-BNSF relationship would be significant.
