Greenland’s Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen said on Friday that the United States is still pressing to gain control of the Arctic island, but insisted Greenland “will never be for sale.”<\/p>\n

Speaking at a public event in France, Nielsen said the United States has not given up its ambition to acquire Greenland and has subjected the self-governing Danish territory to what he called “severe and unacceptable” pressure for more than a year.<\/p>\n

“We have seen no end to it, even today,” Nielsen said. “We will never give up on our values, and we will never be for sale.”<\/p>\n

In a Facebook post after the event, Nielsen said Greenland could not take international support for granted and needs to strengthen ties with allies when “someone casts doubt on our right to decide our own future.”<\/p>\n

Noting that direct dialogue with the United States is the right way to address the issue, Nielsen said Greenland is ready to work more closely with like-minded European countries on critical minerals, energy and hydropower.<\/p>\n

The yield on the latest issue of 10-year Japanese government bond (JGB), the benchmark long-term interest rate in the country, has reached a new high in nearly 30 years.<\/p>\n

The yield on 30-year JGB climbed to 2.81 percent, marking the highest level since October 1996.<\/p>\n

Local media held that the yields were driven up by the factors of the situation in the Middle East and the fiscal policies of the Japanese government.<\/p>\n
