Officials said the restrictions were linked to Ukraine’s ongoing defence against Russia but declined to disclose operational details.

Defence Forces spokesperson Jere Paldanius said there was no indication that any drones had entered Finnish airspace.

“There are currently no drones observed in Finnish airspace,” Paldanius told Yle. “We cannot completely rule out that drones could stray into Finland. If anyone finds a drone, for example on the ground, they should contact the emergency services.”

The military also increased air surveillance over the eastern Gulf of Finland during the operation.

The Finnish measures coincided with one of Ukraine’s longest-range drone operations of the war.

According to the Kyiv Independent, Ukrainian drones struck an oil terminal in St Petersburg early on Saturday.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy later confirmed that Ukrainian forces had targeted oil and military facilities near St Petersburg during the overnight operation. He said the strikes hit port oil infrastructure and the Kronstadt naval base, located more than 850 kilometres from Ukraine’s border.

Russian authorities said air defences intercepted dozens of drones.

Leningrad Region Governor Alexander Drozdenko said on Telegram that Russian forces shot down 67 drones overnight. He said debris fell near the port of Vysotsk but reported no casualties.

The Ukrainian military had not officially commented on the operation at the time the restrictions in Finland were lifted.

The Finnish Defence Forces said the precautionary measures had ended and that both air and maritime traffic in the eastern Gulf of Finland had returned to normal.

HT

Finland temporarily restricted air and maritime traffic over the eastern Gulf of Finland on Saturday morning after Ukrainian…

[87
46083,4263,44377,158,4127,113,60313,40318,238,13788,44217
post-122312","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-helsinki","tag-kotka","tag-airspace","tag-defence-forces","tag-finland","tag-gulf-of-finland","tag-helsinki","tag-hornet","tag-maritime-traffic","tag-russia","tag-st-petersburg","tag-ukrainian-drones
["GET
