T\u00fcrkiye\u2019nin NATO i\u00e7indeki kilit rol\u00fcn\u00fc, diplomatik etkinli\u011fini ve b\u00f6lgesel\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/RVMWXPBN6S\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/RVMWXPBN6S<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 RADYO VE TELEV\u0130ZYON \u00dcST KURULU (@rtukkurumsal) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/rtukkurumsal\/status\/2073685788496175611?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow\">July 5, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The council said broadcasters should take into account \u201cthe public interest and our national security perspective\u201d in news and discussion programs during the summit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It also said \u201call broadcast flows\u201d were being monitored by RT\u00dcK experts \u201cwith due care\u201d because of the importance of the summit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The wording is likely to deepen concerns that broadcasters are being warned against coverage that could cast the summit or the government\u2019s handling of it in a negative light.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The warning comes as Turkey is already facing criticism over media access, detentions and sweeping restrictions imposed in Ankara before the summit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Several independent Turkish media outlets, including the T24 online newspaper, the Cumhuriyet daily, the ANKA news agency and S\u00f6zc\u00fc TV, were denied accreditation to cover the summit, sparking criticism from press organizations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">NATO spokesperson Allison Hart\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/NATOpress\/status\/2070106084484727054\" rel=\"nofollow\">said<\/a>\u00a0on June 25 that for summits and ministerial meetings held outside NATO headquarters, the alliance relies on assessments by the host country when deciding journalists\u2019 access to the meeting site.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The pressure on the media has coincided with the detention of journalists ahead of the summit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Buse S\u00f6\u011f\u00fctl\u00fc, international news editor at T24, and Ceren Erdo\u011fdu, a journalist at OdaTV, were\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.turkishminute.com\/2026\/07\/06\/journalists-detained-in-turkey-as-nato-summit-looms\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">detained<\/a>\u00a0on Sunday for reasons that were not immediately clear, according to their outlets.
