\n TOKYO (Kyodo) — Sapporo Breweries Ltd. on Monday said it was entering a strategic partnership with the major Danish brewer Carlsberg A\/S to set up a joint venture in Singapore aimed at Hong Kong and the Southeast Asian markets. \n<\/p>\n


\n Under the agreement, Sapporo Breweries will invest around $643 million and acquire a 25 percent stake in the joint firm, which is slated to be established in December this year. The two companies have collaborated since 2024 and plan on expanding their reach into Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia. \n<\/p>\n


\n Working with Carlsberg, which has strong business foundations and distribution networks in Southeast Asia, will “generate significant synergies,” Sapporo Breweries President Hiroshi Tokimatsu said during a press conference in Tokyo. \n<\/p>\n


\n The Japanese brewer said it hoped to grow sales of its “Sapporo Premium Beer” in the region 10-fold by 2035 compared to 2025 levels. \n<\/p>\n


\n “This strategic partnership aims to create a robust growth platform by leveraging the complementary strengths of the two companies through the strategic combination” of Carlsberg’s strength and Sapporo Breweries’ premium brand that has grown in international markets, the Japanese brewer said in a press release. \n<\/p>\n


\n The brewer’s parent company Sapporo Holdings Ltd. will sell its real estate business through June 2029 to an entity of investment funds including U.S. firm KKR for 477 billion yen ($3 billion), with proceeds to be reinvested to strengthen its core alcohol operations. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Sapporo Breweries Ltd.
