In an interview, Ulrik Stridb\u00e6k, the company’s head of regulatory and public
\naffairs, said assessments of energy costs should account for factors such
\nas grid infrastructure, backup generation and system stability, rather
\nthan comparing technologies on construction and operating costs alone.<\/p>\n

Stridb\u00e6k said \u00d8rsted’s analysis found offshore wind remains cost competitive
\nwith other major sources of electricity, including natural gas and nuclear
\npower, after these wider system costs are considered. <\/p>\n
The company said expanding offshore wind could help improve Europe’s energy
\nsecurity by reducing exposure to unpredictable fuel prices while supporting
\nclimate targets. <\/p>\n
The report emphasised the importance of offshore wind to meet growing electricity
\ndemands and reduce dependence on imported energy.<\/p>\n
