Milto also won a bronze medal in the individual cadet girls’ event, while Tvorogal finished in the 5th-8th place range.

Vilnius District is the municipality surrounding Lithuania’s capital, Vilnius, and Nemenčinė is one of its towns. For the local sports school, the results marked a strong international showing by athletes developed outside the country’s largest urban sports centres.

The Lithuanian cadet girls’ team started the championship with two group-stage wins. Lithuania defeated Finland 3:1 and then beat host country Estonia 3:0.

The semifinal against Latvia was closer. Lithuania won 3:2 after a difficult match and advanced to the final. In the title match, the Lithuanian team defeated Sweden 3:0 to become Northern European champions in the cadet girls’ category.

Milto and Tvorogal were part of the Lithuanian team that earned the gold medals. Their results were reported by Vilnius District Municipality, citing information and photographs from Markas Vaitonis, a teacher at Vilnius District Nemenčinė Sports School.

In the individual cadet girls’ competition, Karina Milto reached the podium and won bronze. Individual events at this level require players to adjust quickly between opponents and maintain form across several matches, often after already competing in team events.

Kaja Tvorogal also remained among the stronger players in the category, finishing between 5th and 8th place. Together, the results showed that both Nemenčinė athletes were competitive not only in the team format but also in individual play.

The championship brought together young table tennis players from eight Northern European countries: Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Iceland.

Lithuanian representatives won 10 medals in total across the tournament. For young athletes, the Northern European championship is a regional test against players trained in different national systems and competition environments.

For readers unfamiliar with Lithuania’s sports structure, local sports schools such as the one in Nemenčinė play an important role in youth development. They provide regular training and competition preparation for children and teenagers in towns and municipalities outside the capital’s main clubs.

After the tournament in Rakvere, Milto and Tvorogal remained in Estonia to take part in an international training camp.

The camp is intended to support preparation for the European Championships, scheduled to take place in Portugal from July 10 to 19. That competition will bring a wider field of opponents, making the experience gained in Rakvere part of the athletes’ next stage of preparation.

                                Context & actions
About this article

                                Report
Share

                    Source check
Šaltinio patikra

Tekstas parengtas remiantis Vilniaus rajono savivaldybės paskelbta informacija apie Nemenčinės sporto mokyklos auklėtinių pasirodymą.

Checks

Updated2026-07-08 10:40

        Report

Article contextPeople & topics3#5Karina MiltoKaja TvorogalMarkas Vaitonis

Two young table tennis players from Nemenčinė Sports School in Lithuania’s Vilnius District helped the Lithuanian cadet girls’…

[93
61416,61417,171,55742,24359,170,55744
post-125458","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-vilnius","tag-kaja-tvorogal","tag-karina-milto","tag-lithuania","tag-nemencine-sports-school","tag-table-tennis","tag-vilnius","tag-vilnius-district-sport
["GET
