WASHINGTON (TNND) \u2014 During the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit<\/a> in Turkey, President Donald Trump once again emphasized his belief that the U.S. should have control of Greenland.<\/p>\n

\u201cGreenland should be controlled by the United States, not by Denmark,\u201d the president said Tuesday.<\/p>\n

He said Wednesday that he was \u201cnot happy with NATO\u201d due to what they did with Greenland.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, Trump insisted that the US will take Greenland in \u201cone way or the other.\u201d<\/p>\n

“If we don\u2019t do it, Russia or China will, and that\u2019s not going to happen when I’m president,” he said in January.<\/a><\/p>\n

European leaders on Wednesday pushed back on Trump and stated they would defend the Danish territory.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are ready to defend every inch of NATO, including our own territory,\u201d Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen told reporters, according to the Politico news outlet.<\/a> \u201cOne of the reasons why we built NATO many, many years ago is if anything happens to one of us then everybody should stand up for each other.\u201d<\/p>\n

Polish President Karol Nawrocki said that problems related to international concerns can be solved in NATO.<\/p>\n
