Trump has issued a new threat over his desire to occupy Greenland<\/p>\n

Donald Trump has warned Britain and its European allies that US troops could be pulled off the continent unless he gets his hands on Greenland.<\/p>\n

The miffed Orange Manbaby <\/a>dropped the bombshell threat on British soil when Air Force One touched down at RAF Mildenhall in Suffolk for a refuelling stop on the way home from the Turkey Nato summit.<\/p>\n

Asked about the future of American troop numbers in Europe, Trump said: \u201cI haven\u2019t made that final determination. A lot\u2019s gonna depend on Greenland.\u201d<\/p>\n

He went further, claiming the Arctic territory – which belongs to Nato ally Denmark – is \u201csurrounded by China ships and Russian ships\u201d.<\/p>\n

He insisted: \u201cIt should be controlled by the US, not by Denmark.\u201d<\/p>\n

The President even suggested he could yank the entire US military presence out of Europe altogether, declaring: \u201cWe don\u2019t have to spend any money; we could remove all of our soldiers out of Europe.\u201d<\/p>\n

Deputy PM David Lammy played down the row, insisting Trump\u2019s threats feel \u201crhetorical as opposed to real\u201d.<\/p>\n

Speaking at a Chatham House conference in London, Lammy said \u201cmiddle power\u201d nations banding together had already forced a partial climbdown.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cYou did see the United States back off, although there has been a reassertion in the last 24 hours.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut it feels rhetorical as opposed to real.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chancellor Rachel Reeves also previously hit back, saying: \u201cThe future of Greenland is up to the people of Greenland and of Denmark, and not up to the US president.\u201d<\/p>\n

It comes after months of tension between Trump and Downing Street, with PM Keir Starmer previously branding Trump\u2019s tariff threats over Greenland \u201ccompletely wrong\u201d.<\/p>\n
