a brief statement posted to the club\u2019s social media channels<\/a>, Wolfsburg said on Thursday: \u201cChristian Eriksen will soon begin the next stage of his recovery.<\/p>\n\u201cWe\u2019re in regular contact with Christian and his medical team, and we continue to wish him all the best throughout his rehabilitation.<\/p>\n
\u201cFollowing discussions with VfL managing director Dieter Hecking, it has been agreed that the 34-year-old will complete an individual rehabilitation program in his home country of Denmark.\u201d<\/p>\n
Eriksen joined Wolfsburg as a free agent last September after leaving Manchester United and has a contract until summer 2027 with the Bundesliga club.<\/p>\n
The former Ajax, Tottenham Hotspur, Inter Milan and Brentford playmaker made 31 appearances in the German top flight last season, scoring three times and providing nine assists.<\/p>\n
Denmark led Ukraine 2-1 when Eriksen collapsed. Medical staff from both teams attended to him within seconds, and the game did not continue.<\/p>\n
Martin Boesen, Denmark\u2019s team doctor, told reporters after the incident that Eriksen\u2019s \u201cpacemaker responded as it should\u201d, and that he was \u201cbriefly unconscious, but regained consciousness very quickly\u201d, before walking off the pitch by himself.<\/p>\n
