Minister for Arts and Culture Patrick O\u2019Donovan was taken to hospital <\/a>in Brussels after becoming unwell earlier in the week.<\/p>\n

Mr O\u2019Donovan was in Brussels to introduce a concert at Le Flagey cultural centre, one of three flagship projects that form part of Ireland\u2019s Presidency of the Council of the EU.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can confirm that the Minister became unwell in Brussels on Tuesday night and was taken to hospital,\u201d a spokeswoman for Mr O\u2019Donovan said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe remains under close medical observation.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would ask you to respect his privacy and that of his family.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere will be no further comment at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr O\u2019Donovan revealed last year that he has a photo sensitivity that manifests itself into epilepsy<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He said he was \u201cterrified\u201d when he collapsed in an aggressive fit while speaking in the D\u00e1il chamber<\/a> in June 2023.<\/p>\n
