Oscar-winning actor Michelle Yeoh<\/a> steered clear of commenting on US politics during a press interaction at the Berlin International Film Festival. When asked about the subject, she said it was best not to talk about something she doesn\u2019t know about.<\/p>\n

The Academy Award<\/a>-winning actor was questioned about politics in the United States during a press conference at the Berlin International Film Festival. Yeoh is this year\u2019s honorary Golden Bear recipient at the Berlin International Film Festival. The same was reported by many international publications from Variety <\/a>to Hollywood Reporter<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The press conference was held on Friday after she accepted the prestigious prize.<\/p>\n

When the actor was asked about what she thinks of the US\u2019s political landscape, she said, \u201cI don\u2019t think I am in the position to really talk about the political situation in the US, and also I cannot\u2026say I understand it, so it is best not to talk about something I don\u2019t know about. But I think I want to concentrate on what is important for us, which is cinema. People like to say \u2018cinema is not going to survive because there are so many other things happening, the attention span is shorter,\u2019 but I truly don\u2019t believe that.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the press conference, Michelle was also asked about Asian representation in Hollywood. She mentioned that it \u201ccontinues to be a struggle\u201d, and looked back at the industry challenges that came with making films such as Crazy Rich Asians<\/a> and Everything Everywhere All at Once.<\/p>\n

She said, \u201cAt the time when he presented the movie, everyone was going, \u2018Oh my God, he ticked all the wrong boxes \u2013 all-Asian cast, rom-com \u2013 it\u2019s going to fall flat.\u2019 But fortunately, I think it hit a nerve\u2026 But we prevailed, and I think that\u2019s what it is. I think today, I sit here with a Golden Bear not because of just one movie, but the perseverance, the resilience, the stubbornness to ay, \u2018I won\u2019t just go away. I will stay until the right changes are made.’\u201d<\/p>\n

On Friday, Michelle was presented the festival\u2019s honorary Golden Bear for lifetime achievement from Anora director Sean Baker. The two collaborated on a short film, Sandiwara, which also premiered at the festival on Friday.<\/p>\n
