{"id":127832,"date":"2026-07-11T21:45:12","date_gmt":"2026-07-11T21:45:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/127832\/"},"modified":"2026-07-11T21:45:12","modified_gmt":"2026-07-11T21:45:12","slug":"richard-johnson-racoon-seeks-birds-eye-view-of-nyc-lego-world-cup-2026-trophy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/127832\/","title":{"rendered":"RICHARD JOHNSON: Racoon seeks birds-eye view of NYC LEGO World Cup 2026 trophy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The unveiling of a replica FIFA World Cup Trophy, made entirely from LEGO bricks, at Rockefeller Center was almost disrupted by a raccoon.\u00a0 The varmint climbed to the top of a lighting truss and hunkered down, sources tell the News.<\/p>\n<p>The city\u2019s crack animal rescue team humanely relocated the cute raccoon, who workers nicknamed Rocket after the rascal in \u201cThe Avengers\u201d movies.<\/p>\n<p>Lighting guru Bentley Meeker created the illumination and sound for the Fan Village space in the ice skating rink space, so fans could watch Lionel Messi, Guillermo Ochoa and\u00a0Erling Haaland\u00a0on the jumbotron.<\/p>\n<p>Meeker said, \u201cWe have offered Rocket a job because he is such a good climber.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>FIFA legend Cafu, the Brazilian soccer star who won two World Cups in 1998 and 2002, joined fans at the unveiling.<\/p>\n<p>Laughs in the Hamptons<\/p>\n<p>Comedy queen Caroline Hirsch took her yuks on the road for a one night show at Southampton\u2019s Playhouse.<\/p>\n<p>New York Comedy Festival darlings Jaye McBride, Maddy Smith and Jason Choi came out from Manhattan for the sold-out show.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the first of a collaboration with the great Caroline Hirsch,\u201d Artistic Director Eric Kohn told the well-healed crowd.<\/p>\n<p>Choi chided the room about the Hamptons bubble. \u201cYou guys are probably wondering why Diddy isn\u2019t out here. \u2018Where\u2019s he been? (Photo by Dimitrios Kambouris\/Getty Images)<br \/>\nGarden party<\/p>\n<p>Billionaire financier John Paulson and his fianc\u00e9e Alina de Almeida joined a group of art lovers at the Southampton Arts Center (SAC) to celebrate the opening of The Paulson Family Gardens.<\/p>\n<p>The couple, joined by Simone and David Levinson and Southampton Village Mayor Bill Manger, gave $3.4 million to support the preservation and reimagination of the gardens.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe exquisite building that now houses the Southampton Arts Center, together with its adjoining gardens, was originally designed in 1898 by Grosvenor Atterbury, one of America\u2019s foremost architects,\u201d Paulson said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis 2.7-acre site sits at the heart of our village and is a crucial part of its heritage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Landscape architect Chris LaGuardia is overseeing the restoration.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazyautosizes lazyload\" alt=\"John Paulson and Alina de Almeida attend Angel Ball 2022 hosted by Gabrielle's Angel Foundation at Cipriani Wall Street on Oct. 24, 2022 in New York City. (Photo by Jamie McCarthy\/Getty Images)<br \/>\n250th Celebration<\/p>\n<p>Composer Karen LeFrak rang in America\u2019s 250th Anniversary at the New York Philharmonic, which performed her orchestral work \u201cAmerican Promise\u201d at the Wu Tsai Theater in Lincoln Center\u2019s David Geffen Hall.<\/p>\n<p>The piece was conducted by Maestro Eduardo Marturet, with violinist Amaryn Olmeda, who wore a gown inspired by the US flag and American folk art quilts, and narrated by CNN correspondent Omar Jimenez.<\/p>\n<p>LeFrak took the stage for the traditional bow, garnering a standing ovation for the piece.<\/p>\n<p>The concert was followed by a VIP reception for LeFrak that included her husband Richard LeFrak, Francine LeFrak and Rick Friedberg, Park Magazine\u2019s co-founder R. Couri Hay, and DuJour\u2019s Jason Binn.<\/p>\n<p>Also in the concert hall were Quest\u2019s David Patrick Columbia, Dr. Kenneth Mark, and attorneys Arthur Aidala and Marianne Bertuna.<\/p>\n<p>Josh Groban, who has sold over 35 million albums worldwide, and\u00a0Jonathan Davis, the lead singer of the group Korn, will both perform with Japanese rock star Yoshiki in Hollywood.<\/p>\n<p>The musical superstars will take to the stage at Yoshiki\u2019s two-day concert at LA\u2019s Disney Hall on July 16 and 17.<\/p>\n<p>Yoshiki has also performed with Bono, Diana Ross, and the Jonas Brothers, to name a few.<\/p>\n<p>Carrie Coon lauded. Strahan plays<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Gilded Age\u201d star Carrie Coon, who was nominated for Lead Actress at the Tony Awards in June for her performance in \u201cBug,\u201d will be honored at the Hearing the Ovarian Cancer Whisper charity\u2019s benefit next winter in Palm Beach.<\/p>\n<p>The organization just received a $585k grant to provide support, including rent, childcare, food, and travel to medical appointments, to those battling ovarian cancer in South Florida.<\/p>\n<p>The charity\u2019s director, Jennifer McGrath, said, \u201cWe will now be able to expand our services 14 times through our Angel Fund.\u201d Florida Governor Ron DeSantis approved the funding request.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGood Morning America\u201d star Michael Strahan has joined the lineup to hit the links at Herb Karlitz\u2019s 7th Annual Celebrity Chefs &amp; Friends Golf, Tennis &amp; Pickleball Tournament at Montclair Golf Club in NJ on August 3.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" lazyautosizes lazyload\" alt=\"Carrie Coon, left, and Micheal Strahan. The event marketer said, \u201cMy goal this year is to reach 6 million meals!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>70 is the new 50<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Michael Hall, author of \u201cInfinite Youth: Solving the Aging Equation,\u201d believes in vitamins and supplements and drugs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI take so many things, I\u2019d have to send you a list,\u201d the doctor told me. \u201cIt\u2019s 40 different things.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hall, who says \u201c70 is the new 50,\u201d thinks people can live to 120 or 130.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve been taught that aging is a sentence \u2014 handed down by our genes, served out year after year, beyond appeal.
