It enables us to mature our technical platform, validate our solution at a larger scale, and take the next steps towards the market,\u201d says Line Kloster Pedersen, CEO and founder of Visibuilt.<\/p>\n<p>Visibuilt\u2019s Seed round follows approximately \u20ac32 million in funding reported by EU-Startups during 2026 for companies developing low-carbon, biobased, waste-derived or circular construction materials and related infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>These included Finland\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eu-startups.com\/2026\/01\/finlands-carbonaide-raises-e3-7-million-to-turn-building-materials-into-a-carbon-sink\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Carbonaide<\/a>, which raised \u20ac3.7 million for CO\u2082-curing technology; Germany\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eu-startups.com\/2026\/01\/dusseldorf-based-co-reactive-secures-e6-5-million-to-take-concrete-action-to-decarbonise-the-cement-industry\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Co-reactive<\/a>, with \u20ac6.5 million for CO\u2082 mineralisation; London-based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eu-startups.com\/2026\/03\/data-centre-boom-fuels-need-for-cement-substitutes-as-londons-cocoon-carbon-lands-e13-million\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cocoon Carbon<\/a>, which secured \u20ac13 million to produce cement substitutes from steel slag; Bristol-based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eu-startups.com\/2026\/05\/bristols-female-founded-biotech-startup-mykor-raises-e4-6-million-to-grow-low-carbon-construction-materials-from-waste\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mykor<\/a>, which raised \u20ac4.6 million for biotechnology-derived construction materials; and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eu-startups.com\/2026\/06\/uk-based-circular11-secures-e2-7-million-to-turn-low-grade-plastic-waste-into-building-materials\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Circular11<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eu-startups.com\/2026\/04\/dutch-startup-maeconomy-raises-e1-5-million-to-turn-building-materials-into-auditable-monetisable-circular-assets\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">MAECONOMY<\/a>, which secured \u20ac2.7 million and \u20ac1.5 million respectively for waste-based products and circular-material infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>Including Visibuilt, the disclosed funding across these 2026 announcements totals approximately \u20ac35.34 million.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cConcrete and asphalt production are among the largest sources of CO\u2082 emissions globally. If we are to truly reduce emissions, it requires new solutions in heavy industries. Visibuilt has an approach that could become an important piece of that transition,\u201d says Sara Sande, Managing Director, Partner and Head of Direct Thematic Venture at EIFO.<\/p>\n<p>Founded in 2022, Visibuilt is a BioTech company developing a mycelium-based binder solution for the construction and infrastructure industries. Founded by Line Kloster Pedersen and Oleksii Rebrov, the company combines biotechnology and materialscience to create lower-carbon alternatives to conventional construction materials.<\/p>\n<p>The binder technology, visiBINDER, is a mycelium-based binder designed for paving and infrastructure applications.<\/p>\n<p>The technology is designed to offer a less energy intensive solution for paving materials while meeting the durability and performance requirements of outdoor applications.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt Unconventional Ventures, we look for companies where the impact case and the commercial case are structurally identical. Visibuilt is that company. Every\u200b tonne of visiBINDER placed in a paving application displaces a tonne of fossil binder, generates royalty revenue, and reduces the embedded carbon of the infrastructure it goes into. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cLine has built active industrial testing relationships with Denmark\u2019s leading concrete paver manufacturer and Copenhagen Municipality within two years of founding \u2013 without a finished production setup and without a fully derisked product.
