{"id":129869,"date":"2026-07-15T12:10:16","date_gmt":"2026-07-15T12:10:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/129869\/"},"modified":"2026-07-15T12:10:16","modified_gmt":"2026-07-15T12:10:16","slug":"wiltshires-good-energy-signs-largest-supply-deal-in-26-year-history","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/129869\/","title":{"rendered":"Wiltshire&#8217;s Good Energy signs largest supply deal in 26-year history"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tX<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/full-logo-white.png\" alt=\"The Business Desk\"\/><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tRegister for free to receive latest news stories direct to your inbox<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thebusinessdesk.com\/register\/\" class=\"btn\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Register<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Good Energy has signed a two-year power purchase agreement with \u00d8rsted to source electricity from offshore windfarms off the Cumbrian coast.<\/p>\n<p>The deal, running from October 2026 to October 2028, will see the renewable energy provider purchase 200 GWh of electricity each year from \u00d8rsted\u2019s Walney 1 and Walney 2 windfarms.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement represents around one-sixth of the windfarms\u2019 total output and marks the largest supply deal in Good Energy\u2019s 26-year history.<\/p>\n<p>Fran Woodward, managing director of supply at Good Energy, said: \u201cThis agreement is a key milestone for Good Energy and marks the largest energy supply deal we have ever signed. More importantly, it represents a step change in the scale of our supply at a time when demand for home\u2011grown renewable power is accelerating, driven by an ongoing energy crisis and heightened global instability.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Over the full term, the partnership will deliver 400 GWh of renewable energy, which the company says could supply electricity to over 74,000 UK homes annually based on typical household usage.<\/p>\n<p>The deal builds on an existing relationship with \u00d8rsted following Good Energy\u2019s 2023 agreement to source 110 GWh per year from the Hornsea 1 offshore windfarm.<\/p>\n<p>Woodward added: \u201cBy partnering with \u00d8rsted on Walney, we are significantly increasing the amount of predictable, UK renewable power in our portfolio. That scale allows us to bring clean, reliable energy to more households across the UK, while also supporting businesses that are investing in the energy transition and looking for greater certainty and renewable security as they navigate increasingly volatile energy markets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The agreements reflect an expansion of Good Energy\u2019s energy supply strategy, combining its decentralised generation model of over 3,300 independent energy producers with larger-scale, longer-term contracts.<\/p>\n<p>Joseph Conlan, head of origination at \u00d8rsted, said: \u201cWe value our strong collaboration with Good Energy. This PPA reflects the shared success we\u2019ve built together on our previous PPAs. As Good Energy looks to expand its supply in the UK, we are keen to further develop this relationship and support their continued growth alongside our own portfolio developments.
