{"id":130005,"date":"2026-07-15T15:27:57","date_gmt":"2026-07-15T15:27:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/130005\/"},"modified":"2026-07-15T15:27:57","modified_gmt":"2026-07-15T15:27:57","slug":"eu-home-affairs-brunner-branded-completely-lost-in-secret-brussels-meeting-on-taliban-deportations-euobserver","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/130005\/","title":{"rendered":"EU home affairs Brunner branded \u2018completely lost\u2019 in secret Brussels meeting on Taliban deportations \u2013 EUobserver"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The centre-right European People\u2019s Party (EPP) demanded Brussels discussions on the Taliban be held behind closed doors, according to multiple sources.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The meeting, held in-camera (behind closed doors) in Brussels on Tuesday (14 July), included a back-and-forth between European lawmakers and Magnus Brunner, the EU commissioner for home affairs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That secrecy and lack of public access highlight the political sensitivity over an issue that sees the Taliban gain more prominence in a Europe determined to deport as many people as possible back to Afghanistan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe EPP put this condition that it would be an in-camera meeting,\u201d said one source, who asked not to be named.
