\n Good Energy, which is based in Chippenham, will buy 400 GWh of UK-sourced offshore wind power over two years, from October 2026 to October 2028, under a new deal with \u00d8rsted.\n<\/p>\n
\n The electricity will be supplied from the Walney 1 and Walney 2 wind farms, located off the coast of Cumbria.\n<\/p>\n
\n Fran Woodward, managing director of supply at Good Energy, said: “This agreement with \u00d8rsted is a key milestone for Good Energy and marks the largest energy supply deal we have ever signed.\n<\/p>\n
\n “More importantly, it represents a step change in the scale of our supply at a time when demand for home grown renewable power is accelerating, driven by an ongoing energy crisis and heightened global instability.\n<\/p>\n
\n “By partnering with \u00d8rsted on Walney, we\u2019re significantly increasing the amount of predictable, UK renewable power in our portfolio.\n<\/p>\n
\n “That scale allows us to bring clean, reliable energy to more households across the UK, while also supporting businesses that are investing in the energy transition and looking for greater certainty and renewable security as they navigate increasingly volatile energy markets.”\n<\/p>\n
\n The amount of renewable energy secured through the deal is enough to power 74,000 UK homes annually, based on typical household usage.\n<\/p>\n
\n The agreement marks substantial growth in Good Energy\u2019s purchasing volume and supports its goal to meet rising domestic and commercial demand for renewable electricity.\n<\/p>\n
\n Joseph Conlan, head of origination at \u00d8rsted, said: “We value our strong collaboration with Good Energy, and this PPA reflects the shared success we\u2019ve built together on our previous PPAs.\n<\/p>\n
\n “As Good Energy looks to expand its supply in the UK, we are keen to further develop this relationship and support their continued growth alongside our own portfolio developments.\n<\/p>\n
\n “Together, we share the desire to speed up the transition to a sustainable energy system.”\n<\/p>\n
\n The deal follows Good Energy\u2019s previous 2023 agreement with \u00d8rsted to purchase 110 GWh per year from the Hornsea 1 offshore wind farm.\n<\/p>\n
\n It forms part of the company\u2019s wider energy supply strategy, which now blends its decentralised model of more than 3,300 independent energy producers with larger, long-term contracts to secure greater volumes of renewable power at competitive rates.\n<\/p>\n
