An elderly woman was killed when a man attacked her with sharp weapon in front of Kontula metro station in Helsinki on Saturday, police said.<\/p>\n
The incident took place at about 11:23 a.m. when the victim in her 80s sustained severe wounds in the knife attack and succumbed to her injuries on the spot.<\/p>\n
Responding to an alarm police and rescue service people rushed to the spot and recovered the body of the victim. <\/p>\n
The attacker, a man of 50 years old, however, fled away after the stabbing.<\/p>\n
Police conducted extensive search at the area and arrested the suspect immediately.<\/p>\n
Police, however, did not divulge details about the incident and the identities of the deceased and the suspect at the initial stage of the investigation.<\/p>\n
They said that the victim and the attacker were not known to each other.<\/p>\n
