{"id":132003,"date":"2026-07-20T09:56:10","date_gmt":"2026-07-20T09:56:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/132003\/"},"modified":"2026-07-20T09:56:10","modified_gmt":"2026-07-20T09:56:10","slug":"cma-cgm-maersk-eye-more-lng-powered-containership-orders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/132003\/","title":{"rendered":"CMA CGM, Maersk eye more LNG-powered containership orders"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sources told LNG Prime on Monday that CMA CGM is interested in booking approximately ten LNG dual-fuel vessels with a capacity of 22,000-24,000 teu.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maersk is also considering a similar order, but the exact specifications were unclear.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No further details have been revealed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CMA CGM is one of the world\u2019s largest backers of LNG as a fuel, with a large fleet of LNG dual-fuel vessels.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The shipping firm recently<a href=\"https:\/\/lngprime.com\/asia\/yangzijiang-delivers-lng-powered-giant-to-cma-cgm\/186777\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> took delivery<\/a> of CMA CGM Notre Dame from China\u2019s Yangzijiang Shipbuilding, saying it is the world\u2019s largest LNG-powered containership.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the other hand, Maersk continues to expand its fleet of LNG dual-fuel vessels after\u00a0announcing<a href=\"https:\/\/lngprime.com\/asia\/maersk-confirms-nts-order-for-lng-powered-container-vessels\/177193\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> in August 2024 <\/a>that it was in the process of signing orders and charter deals for up to 60 dual-fuel containerships, including LNG dual-fuel vessels.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This move represented a significant turn for the shipping company, which had been one of the biggest supporters of methanol-powered ships.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Earlier this year, Maersk <a href=\"https:\/\/lngprime.com\/asia\/maersk-confirms-nts-order-for-lng-powered-container-vessels\/177193\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">confirmed<\/a> that it had signed a shipbuilding deal with China\u2019s New Times Shipbuilding for 8 LNG dual-fuel container vessels with a capacity of 18,600 teu.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The global fleet of LNG-powered vessels continues to expand, with container vessels and car carriers leading the pack.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">DNV\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/lngprime.com\/asia\/dnv-says-10-lng-powered-vessels-booked-in-june\/190876\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">latest data shows <\/a>that there are now 914 LNG-powered ships in operation and 654 LNG-fueled vessels on order.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Moreover, 244 LNG-powered containerships and 145 LNG-powered car carriers are in operation, followed by 95 oil\/chemical tankers, and 88 crude carriers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As per vessels on order, LNG-powered containerships account for a big part of the orders with 410 units.
